How Albion's players rated against West Ham.

MATY RYAN 7

Kept Albion on terms with a save he would probably have been expected to make from Snodgrass. Got a hand to the Hernandez goal. Albion need him to be this confident and precise with the ball at his feet.

SHANE DUFFY 7

Less eye-catching than at least one of his fellow defenders but did a sound job on the right of the three.

LEWIS DUNK 7

Helped offer Ryan good protection again at the middle of the three and took an opportunity to stride forward with the ball at his feet in attack.

DAN BURN 8

Should have scored inside a minute but went on to produce a quite spectacular display on the left, often striding forward and looking at ease with the ball at his feet.

MARTIN MONTOYA 7

West Ham did a better job than Watford of blocking his forward path but he still made some dangerous forays and his super cross set up Propper’s headed chance. Beaten out wide in the run-up to the Hammers' goal.

The Argus:

DALE STEPHENS (above) 7

Snapped into some strong challenges and was alert to pick off passes, notably ahead of a raid which saw March test Fabianski.

DAVY PROPPER 7

So much more attacking intent than previously. Spread the play and drove forward but needed to find that finishing touch – or willingness to shoot.

SOLLY MARCH 7

Tested Fabianksi with an angled drive and came more into the match as it went in. Looked dangerous down the left without ever quite delivering.

PASCAL GROSS 7

Fabulous free-kick delivery from wide should have seen Albion lead inside a minute. The system gives him a chance to create spaces with or without the ball.

GLENN MURRAY 7

Played a VAR-approved part in the equaliser and some great work to tee up Maupay should have brought the winner. A useful target with movement and ideas all around him.

The Argus:

LEANDRO TROSSARD (above) 8

A deserved debut goal – eventually. Movement, first touch and a pair of right-foot finishes were top class. But badly scuffed a great chance.

SUBS

Neal Maupay: Offers a different type of threat and is a handful but should have scored.

Florin Andone: Sent on to get in behind but not much seen of him.

Aaron Mooy: Went on late for his debut as one of the attacking three.
