KEY BATTLE: Eoin Doyle vs David Cornell

KEITH Curle was dealt a blow earlier this month when Norwich City academy graduate Steve Arnold left the field due to a hamstring knock.

Arnold made 23 appearances for Shrewsbury last season, and made a £5,000 switch to Sixfields in order to be living closer to his family - penning a two-year deal.

Disaster struck when he was substituted in the Cobblers’ 1-1 draw against Port Vale last weekend - leaving Curle with no option but to place Cornell between the sticks.

With Wellens’ new recruit Eoin Doyle on a high after snatching a late equaliser at Exeter on Saturday, this area of the pitch will prove important.

ONE TO WATCH: Nicky Adams

NICKY Adams didn’t quite hit the form Northampton fans would expect on Saturday in the Cobblers’ 2-1 loss at home to Macclesfield.

His isolation and lack of support on the right side of midfield is something visiting boss Keith Curle will be keen to correct ahead of their visit to table topping Swindon.

Adams has the capability to pose a real threat to Town’s defensive ranks with Zeki Fryers likely to hold the left-back role.

That area is arguably Town’s weakest - a chance to Cobblers to exploit Wellens’ thus far solid defence, then.

The 32-year-old could frustrate travelling fans again, but you wouldn’t want to bet against it.
