MALMESBURY teenager Louis Harvey landed the Rissington Championship at the weekend, and will be crowned champion at an awards ceremony later this year.

Racing on his Klaassen Motorsport ARC chassis, Harvey’s efforts in the concluding round of the Rissington Championship incorporated the latest round of the Midlands Championship.

Consequently, it was a bitter-sweet weekend for the Wiltshire hope - as his efforts in both races at the weekend saw him finish 14th and second.

After finishing his two heats in third and second, Harvey started Final One third on the grid. The teenager seized the race’s early lead before being passed by kart 24.

But disaster stuck when Harvey was dropped down the field after being the victim of a high-speed crash – meaning he finished 14th.

After dusting himself down, Harvey recovered during Final Two – and was unlucky not to scoop a win.

But after a lap-long battle with Kart 24, the final was won by Kart 33 – who benefitted from Harvey’s relentless tussle with his main rival on the final turn to win by five hundredths of a second.
