SWINDON Robins will have to wait 24 hours to start the SGB Premiership Grand Final against Ipswich Witches following the postponement of Monday's scheduled first leg.

With heavy rain forecast to fall in Ipswich on Monday, an early decision has been made to push back the first leg at the Witches' Foxhall Stadium until Tuesday.

The second leg remains scheduled for Thursday back at the Abbey Stadium in Swindon.

A brief statement on the Robins' website read: "The first leg of the Premiership Grand Final between Ipswich and Swindon has been put back by 24 hours and will now take place on Tuesday.

"An early decision has been taken to avoid inconvenience for all parties, having studied weather forecasts for Monday - all of which indicate heavy rain, whilst the forecast for Tuesday at Foxhall is much clearer."

Swindon secured their place in the Grand Final – their second in three years – with a dominant 107-71 aggregate victory over Wolverhampton Wolves last week.

Alun Rossiter's side were also crowned Premiership champions back in 2017.
