PLAYER-COACH Aaron Nell was the hero for Swindon Wildcats for the second night in a row as he netted an overtime winner to snatch a 2-1 success away at Bracknell Bees on Sunday.
The victory sealed Swindon’s first four-point weekend of the National League season, with the Cats having beaten Hull Pirates 6-3 on home ice 24 hours earlier.
Nell led by example for his side on Saturday too, netting a hat-trick at the Link Centre.
There was little to choose between the two teams on Sunday night, with no goals arriving in either of the first two periods.
Swindon finally broke the deadlock early in the final session through Edgars Bebris, only for Bracknell to respond in the closing stages as Roman Malinik’s goal levelled the scores.
That ensured the game headed to an additional five-minute period – and it was the Cats raised their game to snatch the win as Nell struck to seal a perfect weekend for his side.
