FC WALCOT rose to the top of the Swindon Sunday League Division One table courtesy of a stunning 7-1 victory away at previous leaders Croft Junior.

The only Division One fixture to survive the wet weather saw the visitors utterly dominate their title challengers and secure a scintillating success that maintains their unbeaten start in the league.

There was also just one fixture played in Division Two on Sunday as Atletico Marlborough cruised to a comfortable 9-1 success over fellow mid-table outfit Purton Redhouse.

Jamie Conway led the way for the victors with a hat-trick, while there were braces for Connor Marsden and Mike Wilkins.

Jordan Ball and Tom Wantock also scored to ensure Josh Harper’s solitary goal for Redhouse was in vain.

Substitute Luke Murphy was the hero for Sevenfields United after they claimed a 2-0 victory at home to Smartmovers in Division Three.

With the score at 0-0, Murphy was introduced on the hour mark as the hosts attempted to inflict Smartmovers’ first defeat of the fledgling season.

And his addition had the desired effect, striking in the 72nd and 88th minutes to secure all three points for United and haul his side level with their weekend opponents in the table on nine points.

Elsewhere, Covingham United also won 2-0 to secure their first victory of the season as they downed Ridgeway Rovers.

Second-half goals from Nick Moore and Dan Hulse helped United to move up to eighth in tne table and send beaten Ridgeway down to the foot of the standings.
