Steven Benda – 8
An excellent first half save and made several strong punches/catches throughout the game. Nearly, literally, dropped a point in injury time.
Paul Caddis – 7
Wasn’t caught out on his side of the wing, a sign of his class and experience in tricky conditions. Just couldn’t get on the end of some long balls forward.
Rarmani Edmonds-Green – 8
Deserved a goal after going close in previous games. Almost grabbed an assist too. Defended soundly, a strong loan addition to Town’s squad.
Zeki Fryers – 5
Snatched at a few relatively simple passes and often gifted Carlisle possession from attempted clearances. Will enjoy better games.
Rob Hunt – 7
Another solid display by one of Wellens’ most reliable players this season. Can’t pick a moment where he was bullied by any United player.
Anthony Grant – 7.5
Not immune to the occasional error, particularly early on. But again won possession through determination so often to halt United’s attacking moves.
Michael Doughty – 6.5
Played the defensive game well, but that usual creative flair up front just lacked from his game – perhaps because of the wind.
Diallang Jaiyesimi – 7.5
A number of fantastic individual plays, almost showboating at times. Another classy performance that lacked an assist.
Hallam Hope – 6
Tried hard against his former club, but perhaps a victim of those efforts. Subbed midway through the second half.
Jerry Yates – 7
Was a threat on the left wing and linked up well with Jaiyesimi at times to help Town pierce the hosts’ defensive line. Short on chances, though.
Eoin Doyle – 6.5
Was shut out of the game well by United’s sound defence. Few goalscoring chances, though those he did strike were on target but often blocked.
SUBSTITUTES:
Admiral Muskwe (for Hallam Hope, 65) – 7
Was a handful for Carlisle to deal with, easy to see the talent Wellens has spotted. Could’ve grabbed a goal too.
Lloyd Isgrove (for Diallang Jaiyesimi, 90) – N/R
Kaiyne Woolery (for Eoin Doyle, 90) – N.R
