WARMINSTER ended a five-game losing streak in emphatic style as they romped to victory over county rivals Bradford-on-Avon in a 66-5 triumph.

They opened the scoring in the first minute as Jamie Wilde touched down the first of his brace – one of two players on the day to bag a double alongside Sam Couch.

Jimmy Rees followed up by kicking the first of eight conversions on a fine day.

Further converted tries followed for Reid Curtis and the first of Couch’s brace, though Rees was unable to add the extras to a Will Thomas scored on 25 minutes.

The first period closed out with Dan Bowman dotting down and Rees booting the points tally up to 33.

Warminster made another fine start to the second half, as Stephen Rowbotham went over. Rees converted.

Dean Priestman repeated the trick nine minutes later before Alex Jenkins got himself on the scoresheet with the hosts’ eighth try of the afternoon.

Rees missed out on his second conversion after Sam Couch scored, before Wilde bookended the contest with his second try.

Other results in the division saw Trowbridge 2nds score a thumping 53-12 victory away to their Chippenham counterparts.

Marlborough 2nds also ran rampant in a 53-17 win over Calne to draw level on points with Minety, though they remain second bottom above Bradford on points difference.

Minety returned without any points to add to the table as they fell to a 45-12 loss away to leaders Avonvale.

Melksham remain Avonvale’s closest challengers, but slipped to 11 points back of the Bath-based outfit following a 10-8 defeat to Frome’s second string.

Third-placed Royal Wootton Bassett 2nds overcame Sutton Benger 16-10 to cut the gap on Melksham.
