Adver Sport looks back at past events that occurred on this day involving Swindon Town.

1988: Wegerle makes move

South African born United States international Roy Wegerle joined Swindon for a month-long loan from Chelsea.

The deal was made with a potential £100,000 transfer in the offing, though Wegerle would not sign permanently for Town in the end.

1990: Battling Town clinch derby draw

Swindon Town twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw at arch rivals Oxford United.

After Steve Foster had given United an early lead, Steve White turned in the equaliser after Duncan Shearer’s header had hit the post.

Foster capitalised on a Fraser Digby error to put Oxford back in front, but Paul Bodin snatched the draw from the spot with four minutes to run after White had been chopped down.

1993: Rivals City downed

Brian Marwood scored on his debut as Town got the better of West Country rivals Bristol City 2-1.

Paul Bodin added a second-half penalty with Leroy Rosenior’s late riposte just consolation.
