Oldham have joined the race to sign Town midfield Matt Palmer, Town boss Wellens reveals.
Speaking to BBC Wiltshire, Wellens announced that Oldham had put in a bid for 25-year-old but that he was more interested in Wigan.
Wellens said: "We’ve had another offer from Oldham for Matty, a couple of offers for him.
"I think Matty prefers the Wigan route but with Wigan’s problems, they obviously have a certain cap which is £1,000-a-week which we’re not willing to accept at the moment.
"Oldham have offered more but the player’s not willing to go, he’d rather go to Wigan, which I understand.
"So unless Wigan up their offer then it won’t be happening."
Despite the transfer speculation, Palmer did make the bench for Town in the 2-0 defeat away at Blackpool last weekend and could be in the squad for the home visit of Burton this Saturday.
