SWINDON Town coach Tommy Wright suggested the club is chasing Leeds United midfielder Robbie Gotts on loan before next Friday’s domestic deadline.

Following the closing of the international window on Monday 5, EFL clubs can still trade with each other – as well as Premier League outfits – until 5pm on Friday October 16.

After reportedly missing out on Lilywhites’ target Mateusz Bogusz last Monday following his move to Spanish Segunda side UD Logrones, Wright said Swindon may well be looking to supplement Jordan Stevens’ arrival at the County Ground with a second Leeds player in the shape of Gotts.

The 20-year-old, who is also a target for fellow League One outfit Sunderland, played 60 minutes of United’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in last season’s FA Cup before making his league debut in a 2-0 defeat to Cardiff City once the season resumed in June.

Asked whether the rumours of Town’s interest in Gotts had any substance to them, Wright gave a knowing smile before answering.

He said: “I’ve watched Robbie quite a lot for Leeds – I know Leeds well having been there as a player.

“He’s a good young player. You can see me smiling as I say that. I’m not saying it’s definite, but there is a bit of interest there from our point of view.

“But I think there is quite a bit of interest from plenty of other clubs too in Robbie.”
