Adver Sport takes a look back at the most notable events from the past week in Swindon Town Football Club history

1896: Town lose 7-0 to Upton Park FC - four years before the London side would go on to win gold for Great Britain at the first ever Olympic football tournament in Paris. Swindon also lost 9-0 to the same team the year before that.

1972: Former Town boss Bert Head, now manager of Crystal Palace, returns to Swindon to sign Don Rogers for £147,000 - a record sale for the Town.

1985: First Division Sheffield Wednesday are humbled by Swindon in the League Cup – a ninth minute Peter Coyne goal secured victory for the Fourth Division side.

1987: In front of 11,537 at the County Ground, Town lose 4-3 to Manchester City in Division Two.

1988: The sequel of the Nightmare on Filbert Street - Swindon race into a three-goal lead within the first half hour, but two second-half red cards, a Leicester penalty and an own goal leave Town clinging on for a point for the last fifteen minutes.

2004: After taking an early lead and then doubling it on the hour mark, Sheffield Wednesday appear to be coasting to victory – but an inspired change by Andy King, and a superb performance by Christian Roberts spark an astounding comeback in the last twelve minutes as Town win 3-2.

2012: In a packed County Ground, Town come from two down to drawl level with the Aston Villa, thanks to a brace from Miles Storey, including a sublime flicked effort - but the Premier League side net again through Christian Benteke in the 90th minute to progress.
