OXFORD United have been fined £2,500 for their part in the fracas that followed last Tuesday's draw at Portsmouth.

Players from both sides clashed at the final-whistle at Fratton Park, which saw U's captain John Mousinho and Pompey's Ronan Curtis booked.

The FA has today fined both clubs the same amount, although Portsmouth unsuccessfully contested the penalty at an independent regulatory commission hearing.

United accepted the breach of FA rule E20.

The FA said in a statement: "Both clubs admitted failing to ensure that their players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion on the field of play at the end of the fixture."

The game finished 1-1, with Alex Gorrin scoring United's equaliser from the penalty spot in the second half.

It comes after the FA decided not to charge U's striker Matty Taylor over an incident with Curtis in the melee.

A photo appeared to show United's striker grabbing the groin of Curtis, but after reviewing the footage the association were satisfied he had done nothing wrong.
