DEFENDER Dion Donohue has left Swindon Town for ‘personal reasons’.
Assistant manager Tommy Wright, who was taking the pre-match press conference in place of house-hunting boss John Sheridan, revealed the news.
When asked about Donohue’s injury status, Wright said: “Dion’s left the club for personal reasons.
“To be honest I don’t know a lot about it, he was training, he was here then he just left the club and I was told it was just for personal reasons. That’s as far as I know.
“It’s difficult, he’s a good player and obviously there are one or two things that have gone on in his life but he’s said it’s personal reasons and there’s nothing we can do about that.
“We just want to talk about players who are still here.”
Later in the conference, Wright clarified the club’s contract with Donohue had ended and he was no longer on the payroll.
He added: “He was injured, he got treatment and was training, then left for personal, family reasons and it’s none of my business.
“Family is more important than anything else.”
