AFC BOURNEMOUTH goalkeeper, Mark Travers tops Swindon Town’s list of next transfer targets, according to reports.

The Sun sports reporter, Alan Nixon tweeted on Tuesday afternoon that Town would be hunting a potential loan deal for the Cherries’ back-up stopper after a deal for Cardiff City’s Joe Day fell through on Monday.

Despite apparently being destined for a move to Wiltshire, 30-year-old Day opted to join Paul Tisdale’s Bristol Rovers on loan for the remainder of the season instead.

With the futures of Matej Kovar and Joe Fryer remaining unclear, the rumours of John Sheridan’s side hunting for a new stopper would suggest their respective time at SN1 might be up.

The Town boss was set to tell his glovemen where their futures would lie last weekend, but after the club’s game against Wigan Athletic was called off due to a frozen pitch, it is not known whether those conversations took place.

Any move away for Travers would see the 21-year-old Irishman leave Dean Court for the first time in his young career.

Travers has been in the Cherries’ squad 37 times in total, though the stopper has only played nine times, including two Premier League appearances in the 2018-19 season and one more in the subsequent campaign.

Town’s potential target has played twice this season too - once in a 3-2 win over Blackburn Rovers on the opening day of the Championship season, and then in a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in the third round of the League Cup.

While Travers would likely serve as a direct replacement for Manchester United Under-23 goalkeeper, Matej Kovar, any hope of Town bagging their man will likely depend on Jason Tindall’s side signing another goalkeeper first.

Bosnian international, Asmir Begovic remains the Cherries’ number one, however, Bournemouth’s third-choice stopper comes in the form of 20-year-old Will Dennis.

Dennis only joined the senior side from the club’s under 21s set up in the summer and has yet to feature - therefore, the Dorset side would surely have to acquire a capable back-up before allowing Travers out on loan this season.
