SWINDON Town is set to sign Bristol City goalkeeper Joe Wollacott on a seven-day emergency loan, according to reports.

Town were forced into attempting to make a signing after news broke late on Thursday evening that AFC Bournemouth had recalled Mark Travers due to an injury to first-choice stopper, Asmir Begovic.

The Irishman returned to Dean Court after playing eight times for Town and keeping just one clean sheet.

His expected replacement, Wollacott, went on loan to Forest Green Rovers during last season in what was his only experience of the football league in a career at Ashton Gate stretching back to 2013.

The 24-year-old made his debut for Forest Green in a 0–0 draw with Charlton Athletic in the EFL Cup, and he saved a penalty from Jake Forster-Caskey in normal time to take the tie to a shoot-out. Wollacott then helped his new team to victory over the Addicks in a 5-3 spot-kick success.

Wollacott has spent most of his time at Bristol City either on the bench or out on loan at various non-league sides.

The 24-year-old has played for Gloucester City, Truro City and Woking following a short spell at Norwegian side, Bergsoy IL in the fourth division of Norwegian football back in 2016.

If a deal to sign Wollacott is agreed before midday on Friday, it is expected the goalkeeper will make his debut away at Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
