SWINDON Town Official Supporters Club’s Tim Keen provides all the latest updates after a disappointing week that saw relegation confirmed.

So the fat lady has finished singing, and to be fair she has been warming up for several weeks now. It’s back into the fourth tier of the football pyramid for STFC after what has been a total shambles of a season. And what a way to bow out! A pitiful display against MK Dons and without a shot on target! Now instead of trips to Portman Road and Home Park we’ll be visiting Harrogate and Barrow.

To contrast how this feels right now with how things felt exactly 12 months ago is almost painful to dwell upon. Back then we had a football identity - a fast paced, high pressing style – which although leaked goals, always entertained and was always likely to deliver three points.

We had a manager who was open with the fans and understood the connection that’s needed between the club and its supporters. We had players who genuinely fought for the shirt and gave everything for the club. How a situation can change so dramatically in such a short period of time is something that all STFC fans are currently trying to come to terms with.

As the Official Supporters Club, we’re also fully aware of what is happening off the pitch right now and are in close contact with the Trust. We were disappointed to hear that the club had ex-communicated the Trust and as such we are now the only connection the club has with its loyal fan base.

The next few weeks will no doubt bring more twists and turns in the club’s ownership saga and ultimately the sooner this is resolved the better. We will keep you updated with any news we get on this subject.

One upside from the above has been the increase in membership of both the Trust and the Official Supporters Club – we’ve had over 120 new members in the last couple of weeks and it’s not too late to sign up now – just head to stfc-osc.com and sign up for £5 until the end of next season.

Some final dates for the diary – we have a triple-header planned for week beginning May 10 – with an end of season MNP and Player of the Season award (not easy to choose we get it!) as well as a special with Dick Mattick reviewing the 1962/63 season and team.

We can only dream of having players like Don Rogers right now!
