CHELSEA Women head coach Emma Hayes is on the bookmakers shortlist to become the next Swindon Town men manager, with her odds as short as 16-1.

Paul Tisdale, Robbie Fowler, and Mark Cooper began as favourites for the Town job when the market first went live, but Hayes has remained a considered outsider.

The 44-year-old has previously been linked with a job in men's football after reportedly being shortlisted by AFC Wimbledon earlier this year.

But Hayes immediately shut down those rumours by insisting she was happy at Chelsea and that no amount of money would tempt her away from a job where she has won four WSL titles, two Women's FA Cups and a League Cup in nine years at the helm.

Her side also still has the chance to add another FA Cup to that list of honours when taking on Everton in the fifth round on Thursday evening.

The Chelsea Women boss told Sky Sports in February - when the Wimbledon-job rumours first started - that she was "not looking for another job" as she gets to "manage and represent elite, world-class players" every day.

Whether her outlook has changed in the wake of a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Women's Champions League Final in Gothenburg on Sunday is something only Hayes will know.

If the 44-year-old was to consider the Town job as a realistic possibility after nine years at Chelsea, Hayes could become the first woman to manage a professional men's side in English football.

Hayes was linked with the Chelsea men's job in 2019 after Maurizio Sarri left the club, but the Stamford Bridge hierarchy opted for club legend Frank Lampard instead.
