HARTLEPOOL UNITED have signed ex-Swindon Town midfielder Martin Smith following his release from Chesterfield.

The Pools have also signed defender Neill Byrne for an undisclosed fee from Halifax.

Smith, 25, played 13 times for Swindon during the 18-19 campaign after being signed by Phil Brown. Deemed surplus to requirements by then manager Richie Wellens, Smith headed to Salford City.

Meanwhile, 27-year-old Byrne played under Pools boss Dave Challinor during his time with AFC Fylde.

“Smith is someone we’ve spoken about for a number of years when assessing our midfield options,” Challinor told the club’s website.

WALSALL have signed former Swindon Town centre-back Rollin Menayese on a season-long loan from League Two rivals Mansfield Town.

The 23-year-old played 14 times for Swindon during the second half of the 17-18 season, but was only on the winning side four times.

Since then, Menayese has spent time at Aldershot Town and Bristol Rovers.

“I’m an aggressive, athletic defender, comfortable on the ball, work hard and give everything I’ve got,” he said.

Menayese will be ineligible to play against his parent club this season.

CRAWLEY TOWN have signed Stoke City goalkeeper Blondy Nna Noukeu on a season-long loan deal.

The 20-year-old, played his youth football in Belgium for Royal Excel Mouscron and was also eligible to play international football for Belgium before pledging his allegiance to Cameroon.

“Blondy came down to train with us at the end of last season, he’s a very good goalkeeper and we’d like to thank Stoke for agreeing to the deal,” Crawley boss John Yems told the club website.

HARROGATE TOWN have signed former Exeter City defender Lewis Page and former Fleetwood Town defender Nathan Sheron.

Page, 25, is a graduate of West Ham United’s academy and spent time at Charlton Athletic before playing 35 times for Exeter last season.

Meanwhile, 23-year-old Sheron joins following a successful trial period having been on loan at St Mirren last term.
