SWINDON Town released its new away kit for the 2021-22 season on Saturday, with a mixed reception from supporters.

The 'cyber yellow' and 'pepper green' strip was worn for the first time in Town's 1-0 pre-season friendly defeat to Weymouth on Saturday, hours after being announced by the club on its social media channels.

Town say the choice is a throwback to the kits of 1993-1995 where yellow was worn throughout a couple of highly memorable campaigns, including the club's one and only Premier League stint.

However, some supporters pointed out the colour scheme is too similar to Town's rivals, Oxford United and they were not in favour.

Others love the yellow and green combination, noting owner Clem Morfuni may have had an influence in Swindon's Australian away kit vibe.

Upon the official release, fans were quick to make their often-polarised feelings clear, on the colour of the shirt in particular.

On Twitter, Andy Tindall said: "I think the new away kit is brilliant and if our Australian saviour wants his colours then all behind that."

Others agreed with Andy, backing the Aussie kit colour combination.

Rob Henderson said: "Absolutely love it. Convinced there’s a tip of the hat to the Aussie connection in the choice of colours. Will 100 per cent buy a couple of shirts for my boys!!"

The Modfather 79 said: "It's a big yes for me." and O'Brownie said: "Love it, bring on the Robinoos."

Other Town fans were not so keen, however. Twitter account Clem is In said: "Nope, count me out on this one. Same colour as the side up the A420."

James Clarke likened the kit to a recently-promoted Premier League club. He said: "If I wanted to support Norwich I would. Not a fan."

Meanwhile, Matthew Fytche said: "Not great, prefer the red (home) kit."

Others felt the kit did not represent the club's true colours and would have liked to have seen a white or blue entry. Town have not had a white away shirt since the 2014-15 season.

Andy Freegard said: "Not great. Yellow and green is not Swindon. Our away kit should always be white."

Both of Swindon Town's kits are available to pre-order from the club shop, with an adult shirt costing £44.99 and kid's shirts £34.99.
