ADVER Sport assess the performances of the Swindon Town players following the club’s 2-0 defeat away at Barrow in League Two on Saturday.

Jojo Wollacott: 6

His kicking and handling was admirable in horrible conditions. Sent the wrong way for both penalties.

Kaine Kesler-Hayden: 5

Saw a powerful effort saved in the first half, but was directly at fault for the first penalty and indirectly at fault for the second.

Rob Hunt: 7

Hunt was quite impressive throughout, I felt. He was strong, aggressive in the air, and often in the right position to make a block. Taken off as Town went for broke. Subbed.

Dion Conroy: 4

The Town captain had an extremely tumultuous afternoon. He should have conceded a penalty after a silly mistake in the first half, but then recovered to show his qualities during a battle with Ozzy Zanzala. However, Conroy ended the day by getting himself sent off for apparently mouthing off at the referee. He’s the club captain and should know better than to put himself in that position. Sent off.

Akin Odimayo: 6

Odimayo’s positioning wasn’t always as tight as it could have been, but he was calm on the ball and won more of his headers than he lost.

Ellis Iandolo: 6

After bravely having his finger relocated just before half-time, Iandolo tried his best to get forward in tricky conditions and limited Barrow’s Jordan Stevens to very little.

Ryan East: 6

I thought East did well on his full league debut – his passing was a little safe, but I suppose you’d rather that than see him trying to consistently ping Hollywood passes in that weather. Subbed.

Jack Payne: 6

Often a key cog in Town’s attacking machine, Payne’s input was oppressed by Barrow in the middle. As such, he was reduced to a free-kick and a long-range shot that went over.

Ben Gladwin: 5

Another case of offering a fair amount of good but also a little too much bad. He saw a lot of the ball but rarely moved it quickly enough – summed up when breaking in the first half but dragging a shot wide from the edge of the box. Gave away the second penalty for a silly tackle. Booked.

Harry McKirdy: 4

The attacker’s touch was as bad as I’ve seen it this season. He offered very little up front and was once again booked for dissent – easily his worst trait as a player. Booked. Subbed.

Tyreece Simpson: 5

Aside from one poor decision to shoot when he should have passed, Simpson wasn’t able to get involved much as Town couldn’t get anything going up front. That said, he didn’t make that many runs in behind.

SUBSTITUTES

Jonny Williams: 5

Williams wasn’t able to change the game much at all after his introduction, aside from winning a few fouls.

Jayden Mitchell-Lawson: N/A

Came on too late to receive a rating. However, he was booked for dissent and could have been sent off for sarcastically applauding the referee straight after – an extremely unprofessional and immature act. Booked.

Alex Gilbert: N/A

Came on too late to receive a rating.
