SWINDON Supermarine has announced the club's Southern League Premier South fixture at home to Merthyr Town on New Year's Day has been postponed.
The Welsh club has developed a number of positive Covid cases within their squad, and therefore were forced to contact the Southern Football League to let them know they did not have the required number of players available to fulfil the fixture.
Marine said a pitch inspection had been due at 10am on Saturday anyway after a large amount of rain previously and more forecast had made the Webbswood Stadium playing surface "very wet".
The game will be rearranged and both club's say an announcement will be made on the new date in due course.
Supermarine's next Southern League Premier South game will now be on Saturday, January 8 away to the Metropolitan Police.
