PEP Guardiola has tested positive for Covid and will miss tomorrow night's FA Cup showdown between Swindon Town and Manchester City.

The City boss and seven first-team stars are now self-isolating after they, together with assistant manager Juanma Lillo, caught Covid-19.

The third-round clash at the County Ground - being screened live on ITV1 at 8pm - will go ahead in front of a sell-out crowd as planned.

Guardiola returned a positive test on Tuesday and the Premier League champions have also reported “a number of other positive cases within the City first-team bubble”.

Rodolfo Borrell, another of Guardiola’s assistants, will take charge of the team tomorrow.

City have not identified any of the other positive cases but have given details of the number of people affected.

Guardiola confirmed Phil Foden and Oleksandr Zinchenko missed last weekend's win over Arsenal game because of Covid.

A club statement read: “This brings the number of those isolating for Covid-related reasons amongst the group to 21. Of that number, 14 are backroom staff with seven first-team players.”
