SWINDON Supermarine recorded the club's biggest Southern League victory of the season on Saturday following a 6-1 success at home to Walton Casuals.

Henry Spalding completed his second hat-trick of the season during the comfortable success, while Harry Williams, Ryan Campbell, and Kieran Phillips also netted.

Although Lee Spalding's men began brightly at the Webbswood Stadium, it took the hosts until the 25th minute to open the scoring.

Man-of-the-match Spalding finished a lovely team move by unselfishly setting up Campbell to run into the box and blast into the net.

Marine continued to dominate and went two goals up seven minutes before the break when Phillips' low cross was directed goalwards by Spalding. His shot deflected off a defender, wrong-footing the goalkeeper, before nestling into the opposite corner.

Almost immediately after the break, Phillips notched his 10th goal in his last 15 games when turning home Williams' right-wing cross.

Spalding's men made it four in the 62nd minute when Tom Mehew reacted quickest to a saved Williams effort and squared the ball back to Williams to tap home.

In a game where almost everything went perfectly for Marine, Walton pulled a goal back midway through the second half when Jerry Wiltshire planted a firm header past loanee Jed Ward from a corner.

But Marine were soon back on top, and the hosts scored a fifth when Mehew squared for Spalding to notch his second.

The winger added his third and Marine's sixth in added time after skipping through the middle and slotting past Walton's despondent goalkeeper, Jacob Adams.

Elsewhere, in Southern League Division One South, Highworth Town lost 2-1 at Bideford.

The Worthians made a nightmare start and went two goals down in the first 20 minutes but recovered well in the second half.

Former Swindon Town defender Toby Holland helped Highworth halve the deficit in the 54th minute from a set-piece, but the visitors were unable to salvage a point.

In the Hellenic League Premier Division, Royal Wootton Bassett Town recorded one of their best results of the season after beating promotion-chasing Malvern Town 2-1 at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground.

Sam Packer scored the winner for Sam Collier's men after Chris Taylor's seventh-minute penalty had been cancelled out in first-half stoppage time.
