SWINDON Town are reportedly interested in signing Aston Villa striker Brad Young on loan.

Ben Garner's men brought in Charlton Athletic striker Josh Davison late on Monday but are said to be in the market for another forward option before next Monday's transfer deadline.

A report from Football Insider has stated Town would like to bring the 19-year-old to the County Ground but face competition from promotion rivals Mansfield Town, Port Vale, and Northampton Town.

Young spent the first half of the season on loan at Swindon's League Two rivals, Carlisle United, scoring three goals in 20 outings for the Cumbrians before seeing his spell cut short.

According to Football Insider, Villa have given the green light for Young to go out on loan again before the close of the transfer window.

Swindon's scouting team watched Young score twice in Aston Villa U23's 4-1 victory over their Reading counterparts, as did officials from the other three interested clubs.

All four clubs are said to have registered their interest in bringing Young in on loan.
