SWINDON Town Supporters Trust uses its latest column to discuss the potential opportunity to join the board and make a real difference.

It’s been a busy January for TrustSTFC behind the scenes. We’ve been involved in the latest Advisory Board meeting with the club, we’ve had our own board meeting, and we’ve been continuing discussions around the County Ground acquisition.

At our most recent Trust board meeting, we spent time putting plans in place for our upcoming AGM in late March - which we hope to host face-to-face, and are working on confirming its date and a location.

Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll have more information on this alongside the agenda, as well as our new process for board member applications and its voting process. It’s been designed to ensure transparency, but also in our aim to attract strong and committed candidates that can add value to our ongoing projects and long-term vision.

In line with our constitutional obligations, we have convened an Election Management Group (EMG) to oversee the fair conduct of this process, and it will be independently chaired by Robbie Whittaker of the Blackpool Supporters Trust. Our thanks to him for offering both his time and expertise.

Since the club’s takeover, we’ve had a number of board members step down for a variety of reasons, and this has created space for new board members. At present, only existing Trust members can put themselves forward for the positions, and only registered Trust members will be able to vote on the outcome.

If you’re a TrustSTFC member and are considering putting yourself forward for a board role, keep an eye on your emails and our socials for information in February. Those wishing to stand will have an application form to complete, along with a personal statement and a requirement to be proposed and seconded by existing Trust members.

Since early December, we’ve been distributing TrustSTFC scarves to those who are bronze members and above. The next available fixture to collect yours if you haven’t already will be Tuesday’s home game to Crawley Town. Our team will be situated behind the Town End from 6:15pm to 7:15pm with a list of all our bronze+ members, so there is no need for you to bring anything specific with you to collect yours.
