SWINDON Town midfielder Anthony Grant could be about to sign for Scunthorpe United, according to reports.

Football journalist, Pete O’Rourke posted a tweet on Friday morning to say the Iron are about to complete a deal for the out-of-favour 34-year-old, though he did not say when or what kind of move had been agreed.

When asked about a potential departure for Grant before Monday’s deadline as well as the emerging reports suggesting a deal had already been done, Garner responded with a straight bat.

He said: “Nothing that I know of has been confirmed about that – that’s news to me.”

With Grant’s Town contract running out in the summer, a loan would make the most sense for Swindon unless the club and player agree to terminate the contract for no or a nominal fee.

The 34-year-old has played just once for his club since the end of August while flying off to feature for Jamaica six times since the start of the season.

Evidently not in Garner’s plans this season, a move away appears to be the best decision for the player lovingly nicknamed ‘The General’ by Town fans as Grant attempts to make the most of his final years in professional football.
