THE Bespoke Guardians Swindon Wildcats have announced Balint Pakozdi will remain with the club for the 2022-23 National Ice Hockey League season after signing a one-year extension.

The exciting young talent arrived in Swindon in the summer of 2020 having come over from North America where he spent two seasons with the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs in both the USPHL Elite and Premier leagues.

Before properly starting his time with Swindon, Pakozdi also caught the eye of the Sheffield Steelers in the Elite League - British ice hockey’s top tier - and was drafted into the EIHL Elite Series where he played in nine games for Aaron Fox’s team.

Through the Spring Cup last year, he posted eight points in eight games which led to his return for a full season this term.

Pakozdi continued his impressive form this season, putting up 30 points in 26 games so far which includes five goals in his last five National League games.

The Wildcats are thought to be keen on hanging on to Pakozdi for as long as possible. At 22-years-old, the young Brit has plenty of time to keep improving while helping Swindon to further glory.

Speaking after signing his latest name for the 22-23 roster, head coach Aaron Nell said: “I’m obviously overjoyed to have Bali back for another year.

“He’s come in to Swindon and fitted into the team like a glove. On the ice his work rate is phenomenal and he can play anywhere in our line-up.

“He’s scored some massive goals for us at times through the season and the other guys on the team really feed off how he plays.

“Next year I’m hoping he can make an even bigger contribution on the ice and he continues to grow his game.

“I’m really excited to work with Bali again and I’m sure the fans will love him back on the ice again from September.”
