SWINDON Town Supporters Trust reflect on the group’s recent AGM and bid farwell to secretary Cliff Ponting after 12 years of service.

Yesterday evening, we welcomed TrustSTFC members to the Legends Lounge at The County Ground for our latest AGM. This was our first face-to-face AGM since 2019 and was a fantastic opportunity to catch up with existing members, and also meet plenty of new faces too.

We presented our chairman’s report, had an update on our financial accounts, and were also joined by Town CEO Rob Angus, who spoke about the latest situation regarding The County Ground acquisition.

We also welcomed six new Trust board members, a number of new Trust officers, and presented the new structure of our overall board. Our recruitment campaign this year has been excellent, and our board is now bolstered, all bringing new skills and angles to our work.

We also gave our thanks to Trust secretary Cliff Ponting who has decided to stand down from the board after 12 years of service. He’s been fantastic for the Trust and has been there for us whenever we need him. He’s been at the heart of everything we do - whether that be giving out flyers or trust merchandise on a matchday, signing up new members, or doing detailed research. He’s also taken full meeting minutes every month throughout his time with the Trust, which is no mean feat as our meetings are regularly two to three hours long.

Cliff has also kept in touch with the Football Supporters Association on critical issues and has always made sure that we follow the appropriate process. Put simply, he ensures that we operate in the right way as a community organisation.

We wish Cliff all the best and thank him for his many years of dedicated service. We will miss him at our board meetings but look forward to seeing him at the County Ground for every match, as usual.

Moving forward, Stuart Woollard will take over as Trust Secretary and he is off to a great start, putting in place a new and improved board member application process and working closely with Cliff for a smooth transition of secretary responsibilities.

More follow-up information on the contents of our AGM and the presentation shared can be found on our website, and if any member has questions or comments, they’re welcome to get in touch via the usual means.

We look forward to the exciting times ahead, our club is on the rise both on and off the pitch. Stay tuned and keep up your support in whatever way you can. Let’s make sure 2022 and 2023 are great years for STFC fans.
