SWINDON Town will be backed by over 2,000 fans in the second leg of the club's play-off semi-final against Port Vale on Thursday night.

The Robins have completely sold out their 2,200 allocation with tickets barely making it to general sale after being made available to season-ticket holders in the first instance.

Away supporters would usually be housed in the 4,500-capacity Hamil Road Stand, but Vale will instead open this up to home fans and put the Town faithful in the Bycars End.

The decision came after Swindon told the Staffordshire outfit they would only be receiving 2,200 tickets for the first leg last Sunday.

Despite both Vale's hierarchy and its supporters said to be feeling aggrieved at the number of tickets they were offered, Vale brought just 1,659 down to Wiltshire while Town sold out their home allocation within 48 hours of tickets going on sale.

Town head into the upcoming game with a 2-1 aggregate lead after Harry McKirdy netted a brace against his former club in Sunday's first leg.

James Wilson snatched a late consolation goal to ensure the return fixture will have plenty riding on it from the start.

In a short statement from Town, the club said: "We are delighted to announce that tickets for our Second-Leg tie at Port Vale are now SOLD OUT.

"Thank you for your tremendous support! If any become available; we will communicate that information ASAP. See you Thursday!"

Swindon - who won 3-1 at Vale Park back in January - only need a draw to play either Northampton Town or Mansfield Town in the play-off final.

The Stags beat the Cobblers 2-1 at Field Mill on Saturday, and the return leg is Wednesday evening at Sixfields (7:45pm kick-off).
