A Swindon based rider enjoyed another stunning weekend in a mixed weekend for Wiltshire competitors across the Bennetts British Superbikes and support races at Donnington.
Max Cook’s astonishing start to the Pirelli National Junior Superstock Championship continued as he won his third race out of four this season on his Uggly & Co by Binch Pro Yamaha R6.
The 18-year-old has extended his championship lead after the four races to 16 points, and whilst taking pole position Cook recorded a time 0.2 seconds under the lap record for this class and suggested on Facebook that he could have gone even faster.
In the main event of the Bennetts British Superbikes, as Jason O'Halloran took home two victories, it was not a weekend to savour for Tommy Bridewell from Etchilhampton as he only took home eight points from the three races.
Riding his Oxford Products Racing Ducati, as Bridewell only managed to finish one of his three races around the 1.979 mile National Circuit and in the race he did manage to finish he came in eighth and following the weekend he has dropped to ninth in the overall standings.
The other Wiltshire rider in the Bennetts British Superbikes, former Moto 3 World Champion and Chippenham-born Danny Kent was forced to sit out the weekend due to damage to his chest and lungs following a crash.
He is in line for a return at the next event at Knockhill next month, where he will look to kickstart his season around having taken only one point from the opening three weekends of the season.
There was more success in the support races as Swindon’s up-and-comer Mikey Hardie managed to be on the top of the podium once and also come home fifth in the Hel Performance British Championship on his Completely Motorbikes Kawaski 400, sending him second in the championship.
Ryan Hitchcock from Melksham had his best weekend of the season as he came home a commendable fourth and seventh in the two races in the Honda British Talent Cup.
Racing on his City Lifting RS Racing 250 Honda and sits seventh in the overall standings, just one point behind the two riders in front of him.
Then in the Pirelli National Superstock Championship Charlie Nesbitt of Swindon won his first points of the season as he finished ninth and fifth in two races on the Vision Track Suzuki, moving up to 13th in the championship standings.
