Swindon Town announced their retained list yesterday; and so here is where the squad is for the new season.

Four players have officially left the County Ground, with club captain Dion Conroy being the only regular starter among the group.

That has left Swindon with ten players officially a part of the squad, after the announcement that Louis Reed, Jonny Williams, and Mohammed Dabre would be staying for next year.

The remaining seven are still in limbo, with Rob Hunt and Jordan Lyden not officially having been made an offer by the club, but the door firmly open for them to stay.

This is what the squad now looks like:

Goalkeepers: Lewis Ward, Jojo Wollacott*

Defenders: Ellis Iandolo, Harrison Minturn, Mathieu Baudry*, Akin Odimayo*, Mandela Egbo*, Rob Hunt*

Midfielders: Louis Reed, Jonny Williams, Ricky Aguiar, Ben Gladwin, Mohammed Dabre, Jack Payne*, Jordan Lyden*

Forwards: Harry McKirdy, George Cowmeadow, Harry Parsons*

*not yet signed on

Based on this it looks likely that there will be investment across the squad, with a maximum of 17 players staying from last year after the loanees have departed.

With Josh Davison and Louie Barry both returning to their parent clubs, the forward line looks particularly thin with McKirdy the only established first team player on the books.

Parsons is yet to score his first goal for the club despite impressing on loan at Chippenham Town and Cowmeadow only made one first team appearance last season off the bench against Plymouth in the EFL Trophy.

Tyreece Simpson had his stay with Ipswich extended after they took up the option on his contract, and reportedly has admirers in the Championship, so his return is unlikely.

The squad also looks thin in the centre of defence, with just three options and it still remains to be seen whether Baudry will choose to return having previously admitted he was considering retirement.

Odimayo also finished the season playing more often at full-back than centre-back, and so additions will be expected at centre half when the summer gets into full swing, to add to Minturn who impressed in his first season in the first-team and earned his first professional deal in March.
