THE Bespoke Guardians Swindon Wildcats have announced netminder Dean Skinns has signed a one-year contract extension with Aaron Nell’s team.

Skinns joined the Wildcats last summer from the Milton Keynes Lightning and was a key member of the side’s Autumn Cup success last season.

Forming a close tandem with Scottish shot-stopper Renny Marr, they split time over the course of the campaign which saw the Wildcats take part in almost 70 games.

Throughout his career, Skinns has been a stalwart of the second-tier thanks to spells with Guildford Flames, Bracknell Bees, Basingstoke Bison, Slough, and Milton Keynes.

As well as this, he had a two-season spell in Swindon under then-head coach Ryan Aldridge.

Throughout an impressive career, the experienced netminder had experienced league, cup, and play-off-winning teams while also achieving an All-Star nomination at EPL level.

Speaking to club media after confirming his net-minding pair for next season, head coach Nell said: “Bringing Dean in last summer was a move we really wanted to make. Knowing how many games we’d be playing we had to give Renny some support and I think over the course of the season that move really paid off.

“We wanted to continue that this year, and it was a quick conversation with Skinnsy. He was superb at times last year and I have no doubt he’ll be as reliable as needed when we call upon him throughout the new season.

“Renny (Marr) and Dean will give us the chance to win every night, and at this level that’s what you need from your netminders.

“They can both produce moments of magic between the pipes and I’m really happy to have them both back again this season.”
