BRIGHTON and Hove Albion Under-23 manager Andrew Crofts is the newest bookmakers' favourite to become the next Swindon Town head coach.

After being inserted into the running at 10-1 on Wednesday, Croft's price quickly dropped down towards evens. After the odds shrunk further on Thursday morning, betting was suspended by Bet Victor.

The price list returned several hours later, with Croft the odds-on favourite (2-5) to replace outgoing boss Ben Garner at the County Ground.

In his first head-coaching job, the Welshman led the Seagulls' U23 side to 10th in the 2021/22 Premier League 2 division one table - but were just seven points off third - and helped them lift the Sussex Senior Cup.

Prior to that, the 38-year-old lost just two of his 10 games as caretaker boss at the end of the 2020-21 campaign.

An announcement on the new Town boss is not thought to be imminent, however, owner Clem Morfuni is keen to confirm Garner's replacement sooner rather than later as he is returning to Australia towards the end of next week.
