SWINDON Town Official Supporters Club look ahead to the new season and share a few reasons why you should sign up to become an OSC member.

It’s only two days until the new season kicks off, yet it feels like only yesterday when we all trudged out of Vale Park at about half past ten on that depressing evening in mid-May. What a lot has happened in the past few weeks!

The big story of the close season has been the mass exodus to Charlton Athletic. First the manager, then the analyst, and then a handful of our players – including Jack Payne.

It has left a bit of a sour taste to be fair, and I’m sure Swindon fans will be greet any Port Vale and Charlton defeats with a wry smile this season.

With Ben Garner gone, this is Scott Lindsey’s time to step up. Having listened to him on our ‘On the Sofa with’ show (you can catch up on our YouTube channel if you missed it), he speaks so passionately about our club and you can’t help but feel his genuine warmth and pride for the role he now has. We wish him well – his success will be our success.

A plethora of new players have also joined the club, and it’s great to see less of a reliance on the loan market. It remains to be seen whether Sandro Di Michele’s data-driven recruitment policy will reap the dividends that the Moneyball approach has had at Brentford – but some of the players looked good in pre-season, and the signing of Angus MacDonald at centre half gives us the leadership qualities that we’ll need both on and off the pitch next season.

Focusing on us, we’ve been busy organizing for next season. OSC membership for the 2022-23 season is now available online at www.stfc-osc.com - you can join for only £5.

Membership means that you’ll be entered into draws for hospitality tickets, gain access to member-only events, and enjoy discounted coach tickets for away games with SAS Travel.

All members will also receive a free fixtures wall chart where you can track all the matches next season. Join now!

You can also buy yourself a match-day draw season-ticket online at the website above. The second prize this season will be an official shirt signed by the players – not a bad prize for £23 which will get you automatically entered for every draw this season.

Next time I write this, we’ll be two games into the new season – let’s hope for a winning start! Come on you Reds!
