SWINDON Town goalkeeping coach Steve Mildenhall allegedly had his car vandalised on Saturday following the club’s 0-0 draw with Salford City.
The Swindon-born goalkeeping coach – who stuck with the club through the incredibly difficult and complicated period during the summer of 2021 – watched on proudly as his new protégé Sol Brynn produced a man-of-the-match display at the County Ground.
But after the 44-year-old returned to his car, he had noticed someone had scratched a mark down the side.
Shortly before re-tweeting a post from Swindon Town surrounding the English Football League’s attempt to clamp down on fan behaviour at matches, Mildenhall typed out his frustration at the incident.
He said: “Well after a hard-fought point, thanks to whoever keyed my car in the club car park today! You must be so proud of yourself!”
Town CEO Rob Angus said the club are looking into the incident and could punish any individual involved.
Angus said: “We’ve asked the guys to start looking through the CCTV. Finding anything could be difficult though as we’re potentially searching through two or three hours of footage, and the camera will move around too.
“But it’s disappointing, and we’ll see if we can identify anybody who caused the damage. It is a police matter, but if we can identify the people then we can act in terms of preventing them from coming into the ground.”
