SWINDON Town head coach Scott Lindsey admitted he was “shocked” to see his side blown away in their first-round exit from the FA Cup on Saturday.

Town’s League Two rivals Stockport County were three goals ahead at half-time following a brace from Antoni Sarcevic either side of a header from Akil Wright.

Ryan Rydel then completed the 4-0 rout courtesy of a wonderfully-struck left-footed effort shortly before the hour mark.

MATCH REPORT: Swindon dumped out of FA Cup at first hurdle.

Breaking down a disastrous afternoon post-match, Lindsey explained his emotions. He said: “I probably am a bit shocked and angry.

“I’m mainly shocked because I know how hard these boys work every week – every day – and I’ve not seen that coming.

“I was shocked and surprised at how poorly we played today, our decision-making – which has been good – was poor, our aggressive nature to play through a team and to attack with intent in order to create goal-scoring opportunities – we never saw it. So yeah, I’m shocked.

REACTION: Complacency may have played part in embarrassing Cup exit.

“Angry – I don’t think I’m too angry. I have to keep my cool and make sure that come Monday morning, we debrief, we’ll have a sort out, we’ll get the players to speak.

"We’ll move on, and we have to because we have a really important game on Saturday.”
