WORLD-title challenger Luis Alberto Lopez has been using a Swindon gym to finalise his preparation ahead of a clash with Josh Warrington on Saturday.

Lopez, who has a record of 26-2 (15 KOs) pitched up at Neilson Boxing’s Alpha gym earlier this month ahead of his bout for the IBF Featherweight world-title bout.

The fight, which headlines this Saturday’s DAZN card, will be broadcast across the streaming service’s international platform.

The 29-year-old opted to base himself in Swindon as local boxing coach, Rich Farnan, will be part of his corner team this weekend.

Joining him on the show at Leeds’ First Direct Arena is Australian world champion Ebanie Bridges and unbeaten prospects Hopey Price and Callum French.

Operations Manager at Neilson Boxing, Kyle Neilson, said: “We were really pleased to have Luis visit the gym while he is in the UK.

“At Alpha, we always welcome fighters to come and use our facilities and it has been great to see such a talented boxer up close.

“We are hoping this will be the first of many high-calibre boxers who choose to visit us when they have a big fight here.

“Luis has got a really tough challenge ahead of him in Josh Warrington, but everyone at Neilson Boxing is hoping he gets his hand raised at the end of the fight.”

This year has been a breakout year for Neilson Boxing, who have hosted numerous shows in Swindon in the last 12 months.

Following their final show of the year last month, where Lewis Roberts and Connor Gray extended their unbeaten records, the promotional outfit are now preparing for 2023 where they already have three shows scheduled for The MECA as well as cards at London’s York Hall.

“This year has been brilliant for Neilson Boxing, we feel like we have built great momentum and that is something we are looking to carry into next year too,” added Neilson.
