ADVER Sport assess the performances of the Swindon Town players following the club’s 2-1 defeat to Carlisle United on Saturday.

Sol Brynn: 6

Town’s stopper didn’t have much to do apart from the pick the ball out of his net twice. The kick at the end was not great, but he should never have been put in that situation.

Remeao Hutton: 6

Hutton put a few decent crosses in, but Saturday was his third-lowest pass completion rate of the season so far. Nothing terrible, but he’s still searching for that early-season form.

Harrison Minturn: 7

Minturn really stepped up in his first home league start, winning four aerial duels and completing two thirds of his attempted passes. He seemed a bit more composed than against Orient too, and he competed really well again. Hopefully, he will enjoy a strong run in the team from now on. Subbed.

Tom Brewitt: 7

In his first competitive game since late last year, Brewitt possessed a team-high five interceptions with four clearances and a successful tackle. He showed his competitiveness from the off and never shirked a challenge. Could be a handy addition moving forward.

Tom Clayton: 5

Clayton seemed a bit out of sorts on the left side of a five in defence. He was booked for an off-the-ball incident late on, which was unnecessary. He only won a single aerial battle too. Booked.

Jacob Wakeling: 6

The winger did probably about as well as most people would have expected him to at left wing-back. He was perhaps unlucky to be booked, but even still he showed the usual spirit and energy to make it up and down the left side. Dragged his only shot wide. Booked. Subbed.

George McEachran: 7

His game in open play was excellent, winning the ball back and playing forward passes, but his corners were dreadful. The lack of quality in set-pieces though doesn’t detract from another strong personal display.

Jake Cain: 7

Cain made five successful tackles and no fouls – with an interception to boot – highlighting his improvement from last time out. His game was more of a defensive one, but it was encouraging all the same. Subbed.

Jonny Williams: 6

The Welshman tried to be as lively as possible, but I didn’t feel he had too much of an effect on proceedings. He looked really tired late on too.

Charlie Austin: 5

Austin only had two shots, and he really should have scored with the second of them – a close-range header when unmarked. His last few games have been pretty disappointing by the veteran forward’s high standards. Subbed. Booked.

Rushian Hepburn-Murphy: 7

Although the final execution wasn’t always spot on, the forward was Town’s biggest attacking nuisance with three shots and two key dribbles throughout. He looks like he’s playing with a degree of confidence now.

SUBSTITUTES

Marcel Lavinier: 6

The defender did appear a touch rusty, but he bagged an assist of sorts for Shade’s goal. So a decent cameo.

Tyrese Shade: 7

Shade took his fourth goal of the season quite confidently while showing good strength in the process. He played with composure and looked in control at all times, which hasn’t always been the case. Booked.

Ronan Darcy: 6

The midfielder played his part in the goal by shifting the ball on quickly. Darcy had a chance to set up the winner with a cross from the right but couldn’t get it right.

Luke Jephcott: N/A

Came on too late to receive a rating.
