ADVER Sport assess the performances of the Swindon Town players following the club’s 4-4 draw against Rochdale on Saturday.

Sol Brynn: 6

It’s very strange to think that a goalkeeper concedes four goals but doesn’t really do an awful lot wrong. Maybe he could have been a bit swifter off his line for the first goal, but Brynn had no chance with any of the other three. Handling was decent in the rain. Kicking strong on a dreadful pitch.

Remeao Hutton: 7

Hutton bagged an early assist and was far more useful in an attacking sense than he has been of late. He may well have been at fault for Rochdale’s first goal, though, as the rest of the defence had stepped up while Hutton remained. But overall, he was closer to his old self.

Tom Brewitt: 6

Brewitt looked less convincing than he had done in his first two appearances, but he avoided any major hiccups on a day where his side conceded four.

Tom Clayton: 6

Clayton’s afternoon was very similar to his defensive partner’s. He almost embodies the confidence of the team. Trying to put on a brave face but knowing something isn’t quite right. Booked.

Marcel Lavinier: 6

Post-match, Morris complained that some of his team’s body language wasn’t up to scratch. I wouldn’t mind betting one of those he was unhappy with was Lavinier. The full back produced some encouraging moments, but he wasn’t always his lively self. Subbed.

George McEachran: 5

McEachran’s afternoon was cut short with a calf injury. Morris was frustrated that the midfielder didn’t flag up the issue sooner as the game passed him by somewhat. Subbed.

Ronan Darcy: 7

Darcy was right in the thick of the action, but without scoring or providing an assist. He produced four shots and made three key passes – on top of his tireless work rate. Others should take note.

Jonny Williams: 6

Williams enjoyed a decent first half with a pre-assist as his crowning achievement. But the switch in formation after the break didn’t help the Welshman, and Williams wasn’t able to have the same effect on proceedings. Subbed.

Jacob Wakeling: 6

Wakeling was once again asked to play in a few positions, and as such wasn’t able to find enough consistency to help the team. He worked hard, though, the minimum you’ve come to expect from the 21-year-old. Subbed.

Rushian Hepburn-Murphy: 7

Hepburn-Murphy was quieter overall but efficient in his play. He forced O’Donnell into a couple of saves and laid on the assist for Austin’s second goal. Subbed.

Charlie Austin: 10

If you can’t give out a 10 when a player scores four, when can you? Austin showed his undoubted quality and class by scoring four slightly different goals. An effort that should have ended with three points for his team as well.

SUBSTITUTES

Jake Cain: 6

It was such a difficult game to take control of – in part due to the pitch – but Cain didn’t do his reputation any harm with a solid all-round effort as the pivot of Town’s midfield.

Tyrese Shade: 7

I’m giving Shade the assist for Austin’s hat-trick goal as he put the cross in in the first place. His second assist was perfectly timed, and he seemed right at it as soon as he came on.

Harrison Minturn: 5

Morris has mentioned that Minturn could do with tightening his concentration levels up, and that proved to be true as the substitute missed a simple clearance that ultimately led to Dale’s fourth goal. He has the ability to be a first-team player, but today was not his best outing.

Luke Jephcott: 6

Jephcott was another to put in a real shift after his introduction, but didn’t have an awfully big impact on the game in a hectic end.

Dylan Kadji: N/A

Came on too late to receive a rating.
