SWINDON Town winger Tyrese Shade has been called up by St. Kitts and Nevis for the Caribbean islands' CONCACAF Nations League qualifiers this month.

The 22-year-old, who joined Town last summer, has been selected by coach Austin Huggins for The Sugar Boyz' two remaining Group B matches away at Saint Martin this Thursday and at home to Aruba on Monday, March 27.

If Shade features, he will be rewarded with his first full international caps for his country after picking up five youth-level appearances.

Head coach Jody Morris will definitely be without the wide man for Town's League Two home game against Stockport County at the weekend, and he could miss the away trip to Hartlepool United on April 1 as well.

Shade's only international recognition prior to the recent call-up arrived during the 2018 CONCACAF Under-20 Championships in the United States of America.  The former Leicester City academy graduate has netted four times in 31 outings for Swindon this season – form which has earned him a call-up at a crucial stage of the Nations League for St Kitts and Nevis.

The Sugar Boyz currently sit second in League C, Group B after two games, having already beaten Aruba 3-2 away and drawn 1-1 against Saint Martin in Basseterre back in June 2022.

Shade will travel to the Raymond Gordon Ernest Guishard Technical Centre in Anguilla for the tie away at Saint Martin before hosting Aruba at Warner Park to complete their group schedule.

The winners earn promotion to the league above, much like the European version of the Nations League, while also securing qualification for the 2023 Gold Cup preliminaries which kick off in June.

In a statement, Swindon Town wished Shade "the best of luck over the coming week."
