SWINDON Town head coach Jody Morris insists his players will not be implementing a change of style or tempo despite the Robins’ search for a play-off berth beginning to fade away.

Ahead of the Robins’ home game against Stockport County on Saturday, Swindon find themselves nine points below the Hatters and eight points away from a top-seven spot.

But despite the obvious necessity for three points more often than not in the final 10 games, Morris says there will be no kitchen-sink-themed tactics on show.

He said: “I always try and set up on the front foot anyway.

“I don’t like to do anything in a kind of: “let’s wait, let’s be solid and bunker down” kind of way. I’d rather be solid and on the front foot further up the pitch.

“As far as trying to create chances, I still firmly believe the best way of doing that is by playing the way I want us to play, not by getting it forward quickly.

“If we had a hugely physical side or a side that suited being a bit more direct, we could maybe look at that.

“But I’d like to think that the way I want my team to play, I want us to be varied in how we attack.”

Morris doubled down on his assessment of Town’s current style and insists that as long as the performances meet a certain high standard, results are more likely to follow – a theory he is more than happy to continue with.

Morris said: “I think we should have come away with three points at the weekend, never mind how we played, and I think we should have won the two before that. But we’re sitting here with two points, ultimately.

“The more games that go by, the less chance we have of making the play-offs. But if we play anything like we did at Rochdale, we don’t deserve to be anywhere near the play-offs anyway.

“I’m hoping that was a one-off. Going hell for leather and playing gung-ho, which leaves us a little bit vulnerable at the back, I don’t think that’s the way to go.

“I certainly think we have to approach the game with the mentality that we have to win it, but I’ve felt that way for every single game we’ve played.”
