FRAZER Blake-Tracy was named the Swindon Advertiser Swindon Town Player of the Season for 2022-23 at the Official Supporters Club’s presentation dinner on Wednesday night.

Blake-Tracy followed Harry McKirdy as the most recent winner of the prestigious award – a prize which has been handed out to Town players since 1963-64, Ken McPherson the inaugural champion.

The versatile defender garnered almost 40 per cent of 284 unique votes this year and was the clear winner ahead of friend and flatmate, Sol Brynn in second place.

The Middlesbrough loanee edged out the club’s top goalscorer, Jonny Williams and leading assistant, Remeao Hutton in one of the most competitive Adver competitions in many a year. Two votes split both Brynn to Williams and the Welshman to Hutton.

This year’s vote was open to active subscribers only, with the five players to choose from selected by Adver Sport’s Jonny Leighfield. Jacob Wakeling finished in fifth place but still generated a notable share of the poll.

Blake-Tracy enjoyed a successful night elsewhere too as he collected both the Official Supporters Club’s award as well as the SAS Travel Away Player of the Season.

The OSC’s prize was open to all of its members, and each person could choose one player among the entire squad who they felt was most deserving.

Town’s former Burton Albion loanee collected another trophy just ahead of Brynn and Williams – who remarkably tied for second place on 18 per cent each.

Blake-Tracy – who was statistically Swindon’s most consistent player this season – later modestly argued Brynn was more deserving of the SAS prize as he had played every game and been brilliant in nearly all of them.

SAS Travel’s competition was worked out via a points table where fans who travelled on the coach to an away game would name a man of the match on the way home. The top five players on the day would be ranked, and the man with the most points at the end of the season was crowned their winner.

Finally, the Disabled Supporters Club named Williams as their Player of the Season. Each of the group’s 37 members had their say, with the Welshman coming out on top in the second – and potentially final – year of his time at the County Ground.

Asked by MC for the evening, Vic Morgan whether Williams knew where his future might lie, the 29-year-old admitted he did not know before saying that he has “loved” his time in Wiltshire.

Swindon’s final League Two match of the season is on Monday, when Gav Gunning and Steve Mildenhall will lead the Robins against Crawley Town at the County Ground – 12:30pm kick-off.
