Swindon Town have brought in Nottingham Forest defender Pharrell Johnson on a permanent deal, subject to EFL approval.

Johnson has come through the academy at the City Ground and has been playing with the club’s under-21 side this season.

The 19-year-old is yet to make his senior debut but has been heavily involved in Forest’s youth sides, including featuring in the final of the FA Youth Cup against Manchester United, starting the match at Old Trafford which also featured the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.

The 6ft 4 defender has been involved in Nottingham Forest U21s EFL Trophy games this season too, taking on the likes of Accrington Stanley and Carlisle United, and was victorious in both fixtures.

The defender started the match against Carlisle and was on the bench for their game at the Wham Stadium.

Johnson has also been a regular in both Forest's U18s and U21s teams, featuring 17 times in the U18 Premier League during a campaign which saw them finish fourth in their maiden season at the top level of English youth football.

The defender bolsters Town's defensive ranks which have been depleted by injuries this season, with Tom Clayton especially struggling for fitness.
