Swindon Town plan to open their new fan zone in November to give fans more options for pre-match entertainment at the Nigel Eady County Ground.

In July, Swindon’s revised plans for a fan zone outside The Don Rogers Stand were approved by Swindon Borough Council, which would see a statue of Town’s League Cup winning hero placed in the area that would also have food stands, live music, and much more for fans to enjoy.

Speaking to The Adver, Hall said that the first phase of the fan zone would be opened in November, as part of the plan to improve the matchday experience at the ground.

He said: “The fan zone has been approved, which will be coming to fruition in November for the first part of it, which will be the unveiling on the Don Rogers statue.

“It will be done in two phases along with the JV and the Supporters Trust to get fans in earlier, like fan zones up and down the country to improve the engagement and the overall experience for everyone who comes here.

“We will have different food outlets, we will have music, a DJ, all sorts of stuff to keep that engagement for people coming to the games.”

The refurbished Legends Lounge has been opened for the first two home games of the season and the club are hoping that it can be another thing that improves the experience for fans and can also earn additional revenue for the club.

Hall said: “It is too early to say at the moment [whether the new Legends Lounge has helped that].

“It is not going to be to everybody’s liking and we accept that but it is the first thing that has been done here for a long time in terms of refurbishment.

“It does still need some work doing to it, which we have looked at, but hopefully with the experience that gives with the TVs that are there for the early games and the bar has given the fans more of a matchday experience than what they have had before.

“In time we would like to [make it a permanent sports bar], as we look at all if the revenue streams here at the club that is one of the things that we would like to do.

“We accept that it is going to take time to do that. We do have plans to do that but there is no timeline at the moment.”
