Mark Kennedy is not feeling any additional pressure of the looming spectre of a first win as Swindon Town head to Barrow this weekend.
After failing to win any of the first six matches across all competitions to start the season, Town head to one of the league’s fast starters in Barrow this weekend having won three of their first four matches.
Kennedy said that he wasn’t feeling the heat of the search for a first win of the season this weekend with the season still very much in its infancy.
He said: “[How much does the lack of a win impact you?] It doesn’t bother me in the slightest. We are four games into the season, if I was worried about things like that now then I would pack in football straight away.
“[Is there no emotional element to wanting to get the first win?] I am not an emotional person.”
Barrow have conceded just one goal so far this season as they have won three of their four matches to begin the season having narrowly missed the playoffs last term.
As Swindon head to Cumbria this weekend, Kennedy said that he sees Barrow as being a very stern test but one that Swindon have the tools to overcome.
He said: “I think that when I look at Stephen’s [Clemence] team, they are really well-organised, really disciplined, the distances between units and players are very good, they are really hard to break down in a mid-block, and are an incredibly hard-working side.
“I think that all of those things back up the stats on them not conceding many goals but I also think that it is really early in the season and there are multiple reasons other than that why you get the numbers that you get.
“I think that we have got people, a style, and the ability that we are capable of unlocking doors and creating things – I would expect us to do that on Saturday but equally it is against a very good side.
“When I look at stats, we have had well over 400 [passes] in the games and if I look at things like passes in the box, deep completions, and final third entries we are actually quite high in the league.
“If you look at those stats that is what they tell you but as the league goes on what I would like to do is be working the ‘keeper a lot more.”
