Swindon Town could be without the attacking duo of Paul Glatzel and Joseph Hungbo as they prepare for their first home game of the season.

The Nigel Eady County Ground will host a competitive game for the first time since Chesterfield visited on the final day of last season on May 2 this weekend, as they host local rivals Cheltenham Town.

Whilst there has been some positive news on the injury front in the last week, with Joe Snowdon targeting a return at Oldham Athletic and James Ball back in training, there are still likely to be some issues this weekend, particularly in attack.

Glatzel was left out of the trip to Northampton Town last week after his hamstring seized up after training on the day before the game.

That decision was precautionary, but he has not been able to train this week, and the expectation is that he will be back for Oldham but not before.

Hungbo has also been working his way back to fitness after not playing in any of Wigan Athletic’s friendlies before his arrival on loan, but he suffered a setback this week.

Feeling his thigh, the dynamic winger did not finish training on Tuesday and did not take part on Wednesday, so he will be seeing how he feels in training on Thursday before a final decision can be made, although it is now unlikely that he will be ready for the start that Swindon were hoping for this week.

Ian Holloway said: “[Glatzel will not be back] this Saturday, probably next Saturday, which is great news.

“He hasn't been on [the pitch at the Nigel Eady County Ground for training]. It was just a scan that he had.

“It was a reaction of 90 minutes that he played and the 70, 80 minutes before that, and the weather, and how hot it is, and and his injury.

“He's done so well. It was just precautionary, and good job we took that precaution, because if we'd have tried to play him, if he'd have carried on like he normally does, Mr. Titanium, he'd have probably broken down this weekend badly. So we didn't want that.

“We are also waiting on Hungbo, because he had a sore thigh, and he is going to try that out this morning, but he has not been in training.”

Whilst Hungbo could still be fit enough to play, he would likely be limited to the bench, leaving Holloway's options in attack limited for this weekend's game.

Glatzel's late injury before Northampton saw Ben Middlemas played out of position on the left, with Aaron Drinan and Louis Millard.

Jaylan Pearman did not start that game, having only met his teammates on the morning of the game, but has spent a full week in training and could be in position to feature.

Ollie Palmer could also come into the side, but Swindon are still managing his minutes after he missed time through illness and a minor calf problem during pre-season.
