Ian Holloway said that Swindon Town improving their body language would be key to getting better results on the pitch.
Following a mixed start to the season, the mood is low at Swindon following two consecutive away defeats, interspersed with a pair of losses in the Jersey Mike’s Trophy.
After the 2-0 loss to Newport County on Tuesday, Holloway said that he had an “almighty” feeling that he would need a victory this weekend against Accrington Stanley.
Something else he said after that game was that the body language of some of his senior players was conveying a negative attitude, and that was not something he wanted to see.
Building up to the Accrington game, Holloway brought this up again, saying that he wanted to see his players lead the positivity through their body language.
He said: “I only care about my team and I want them to show better body language if things have gone wrong.
“I can show them myself. I think I showed it on the bench the other evening, so if they want a guide, have a look over.
“I'm still believing in what we're doing, particularly for the young ones there. I knew it might be difficult, but if you want something in life, you've got to fight for it.
“If you're going to fight for something, then we've got to be together. All of us. And they’ve got to prove that because they're the ones who lead it.
“And if they show a body language that's negative, we'll get all that nonsense again.”
When asked about whether he had been trying to show them the body language he wanted, Holloway admitted that it had been going on for a while.
He added: “It started against Shrewsbury [Town] last year. It was us against ourselves.
“And then that was followed by probably my least favourite game of all was when we won 2-1. Ollie Clark went back to left centre back and scored two and we beat Barnet 2-1 away from home.
“Look at them now. Amazing. They haven't got any bad chi about them, have they? They're not carrying anything because everything's great for them.
“Wasn't it wonderful for Bromley to have everything great? Oh my God.
“Until we realize that anything that's happened before should be history and then we're going to keep going and see what we can do with a brand new group of people.”
