GRANGE Junior School pupils achieved what many can only dream of last month when they scooped silverware at Wembley.
The school’s under 11s team, pictured left, were playing in the final of the Football League Under 11 Community Cup against St Winifrides Roman Catholic Primary School.
Adorned in Swindon Town colours, Grange played out a 0-0 draw against their Wirral-based opponents and shared the cup, much to the delight of deputy head and coach Andy Drury.
“We had a brilliant day. The boys had a fantastic time, really enjoyed playing and did not show any nerves,” he said.
“They played really well. We had about six shots and they had a couple of shots, so we just about shaded it, but a draw was a fair result.”
The match took place on Sunday, 24 May, hours before the League One play-off final kicked off.
The team were given a tour of the pitch and the changing rooms, and stayed on to watch Scunthorpe seal promotion with a 3-2 triumph over Millwall.
