CHARLIE Comyn-Platt has not received the shattering' news he feared but still faces at least a fortnight on the sidelines.

The youngster's joy at blasting what proved to be the winner against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday was tempered somewhat by sustaining a foot injury which saw him leave the ground on crutches.

Comyn-Platt, pictured, has been to hospital for a scan and the news is somewhat bitter-sweet for the player.

He said: "I've had it x-rayed and the view was that there was no obvious sign of a break.

"Obviously that's a relief because you don't want to hear it's a break. It looks like very bad bruising but I seem to have sprained my ankle as well. It's right on the bone where there isn't a lot of protection.

"There was some talk of seeing a specialist about it as well but there's not a lot that can be done until the swelling goes down and I'm still using the crutches at the moment.

"At the hospital they said your man on the street was looking at at least three weeks out. Hopefully with regular treatment at the club I can be back sooner."

It isn't the first time this season that highs have been followed by a swift low for Comyn-Platt.

However, you won't find the amiable Mancunian wallowing in the depths of despair.

He said: "I'm not going to get distraught about the situation. I know I'll be back. What would have been hard to take is if I'd got injured and we'd lost the game."

Besides, there's always his flat mate (and his flat mate's mum) to help nurse him back to health.

Comyn-Platt and teammate Ricky Shakes share a Swindon pad' and for the time being at least, it looks as though the former will be relying rather heavily on the latter.

"It looks like Ricky'll be doing the cooking for a bit longer," joked Comyn-Platt.

"His mum phoned to see how I was as well so I'll be able to tell her whether he's doing a good job."

Injury aside, the former Bolton Wanderers man is more than happy with life in Wiltshire.

Shakes has already hinted he'll be happy to talk about a new deal and Comyn-Platt is of the same mind, if one is offered.

He said: "It's going well and hopefully something can be sorted."
